60 Minute Helicopter Flights

Nationwide

Experiences Flash element

Our 60 minute long helicopter flights are a great way to experience the pleasure of flight, as you've got time to really get to grips with how these things actually fly and stay in the air - technically speaking you'll be discovering the foundation flying manoeuvres such as hovering, lifting off and eventually, level flight.

Before climbing in the cockpit for your flight, there's the all important air safety briefing. Listen carefully, as once airborne after the take off, it's over to you to actually fly the two seater helicopter as you adjust the trim and control the rotar blades to gain altitude and there you go, you're flying!

Helicopters are capable of flights approaching 100mph, can fly backwards and even hover on the spot too, making them an exciting and thrilling present for anyone who's keen on heli classes and maybe even want to make their first steps towards formally starting helicopter flight training. We offer five hour ' Learn to fly a helicopter ' Training Packs that can get them flying as well as a choice of alternative helicopter lessons on our main helicopter page.

With the instructor by your side at all times in these dual-controlled helicopters, you learn lots during these trial flights; from how to coordinate pitch and power, using throttle and power changes to execute smooth banked turns and taking off vertically. We think a trial helicopter flight is a bit like rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time - it's all a question of control, coordination and concentration.

If these one hour flights are not for you, we also offer half hour helicopter rides for those a little less brave!

These helicopter flights all last 60 minutes and you should allow for the introductory briefing on top of this, which provides an invaluable insight into the science (or is that art?) of helicopter flight.

Helicopter classes are offered all year round, subject to weather conditions.

Fourteen is the minimum age for trial flights, minimum height is 4'6", maximum is 6'4". Weight limits vary from 16-17 stone (see location details below).

Spectators are always welcome to come and watch. Even if you can't see all of the helicopter flight excitement, there should be time to take photos and see the take off and landing. Facilities at venues vary, but most offer a clubhouse with toilets and a designated viewing area.

  • Cambridgeshire, Peterborough (17 stone)
  • Kent, Manston/ Kent International (17 stone)
  • West Sussex, Shoreham (16.5 stone)

Customer Reviews

My wife Debbie went on her 60 minute helicopter lesson that I bought her for her birthday in March. My son, Chris and I went to the airfield for the briefing and to watch her take off and land. The flight path was restricted due to the British leg of the Tour de France, so she couldn't fly over our house, but she did fly over my golf club! She had a fantastic time. Three weeks later and it was my birthday. My three year old Grandson demanded that we made a helicopter birthday cake 'Because Nanny likes helicopters'!
