Ultimate Top Gun Aerobatic Experience
Star in your very own Ultimate Top Gun aerobatic experience and live the life of a flying ace just for one day, taking off from the airfield near Gloucester. For this Ultimate Top Gun experience, you'll be in the ultimate aerobatic plane - the awesome Extra300.
The Extra 300 is a high-torque, high-performance aerobatics plane which, being ultra light and state of the art, can pull +/- 10g. The massive power to weight ratio means the acceleration of the Extra 300 is phenomenal. It is the only two seat world championship class aircraft able to take passengers and you will get to actually fly the plane too!
Before taking off, you'll get into the ultimate top gun spirit by climbing into your air force fly suits and choosing your 'call name' - think Maverick, Iceman and Goose. Once you've been shown around the controls, the Extra 300s will perform a formation take off, climb and flying sequence to get you used to pulling g in aerobatic manoeuvres. Then it's air combat time and you're handed to controls to take out the bad guy in a head to head aerial duel that will test your flying nerve to the max. This experiences really is the ultimate in thrilling flying!
Experience Summary: Learn the theory of air combat and then put it into practice against an airbourne opponent during a 45 minute Ultimate Top Gun combat mission. You will take the controls of a high performance Extra 300 stunt plane for the majority of the flight. Your co-pilot will be an ex-military instructor who will have already briefed you on the principles of aerobatics. After a formation take off you will practice aerobatic moves and controlling the aircraft, then it's time to go head to head in air combat against another aircraft. After your instructors brings you down to earth again you'll enjoy a 30 minute debriefing which will tell you the levels of g force experienced , the results of the air combat and presentation of a signed flight certificate. Allow spending 3-4 hours on site. You can purchase a dvd recording of the flight for around £45, payable on the day.
Availability: Experiences operate on regular Fridays and Saturdays from March - October. Additional days may be available if make a booking for two.
Location: The airport is close to Cirencester around 70 miles West of London with easy access from the M4 motorway. The nearest railway station is Kemble offering fast train journeys Paddington.
Requirements: Minimum age 12, over 55's will need a doctors confirmation letter. Maximum weight is 15st 7lbs, maximum height is 6'4". You will need to fill out a medical self certification form before flying. Training shoes and comfortable casual clothes should be worn for the flight. You will be issued with a genuine military flying suit. Cameras are not allowed on board the aircraft.
Spectators and Facilities: Participants are welcome to bring up to two guests who may attend all briefings (subject to space). Additional guests are allowed, however they may not be accommodated in the crew room. It is not recommended to bring children to the airfield. Refreshments are provided for flyers and there is a restaurant on site which serves excellent food. Aerobatic flights do not take place over the airfield, but spectators will be able to watch take off and landing of the aircraft.
