What Can I Expect

Tiger Moth flights in Northumberland! We are offering vouchers for 30, 45 and 60-minute aerial adventures in teo genuine 1940s Tiger Moth from historic Eshott Airfield near Morpeth.

You will be taking to the skies over the Northumbrian coast and country in G-EMSY or G-ANEZ, both wonderful ex-RAF Tiger Moths now flying out of Eshott. Experienced pilot Darren and lifelong friend Dave own these two Tiger Moths. And we couldn't put it better ourselves when they say: “Gemsy and Annie are our pride and joy. It's an honour to be their custodians”.

G-EMSY, in her distinctive and very lovely deep brown and silver blue livery, is such a pretty little plane and with a remarkable story. Built in 1940, she was immediately deployed to RAF Luffenham to train WW2 pilots. This was the first post of many in the RAF, until her decommission in 1954.

After several years flying in Germany (Darren and Dave can tell what she got up to in post-war Germany!), she was eventually rediscovered in a barn in Belgium in 1991. A commercial pilot ensured she was lovingly restored to her glorious airworthy condition.

G-ANEZ was built in 1941 and worked as a trainer at Elementary Flying Schools before being demobbed in 1954. A spell as a glider club tug plane on the Isle of Wight followed, before being in various private ownerships for many years. Annie came to join Gemsy at Eshott Airfield in the summer of 2023.

And now best friends Dave, Darren, Gemsy and Annie are all living their best lives operating flights out of Eshott Airfield. As a passenger, you'll get the best view, right up front.

For these nostalgic Tiger Moth flights in Northumberland, you can go up the coast towards Holy Island, or down past Morpeth and the Angel of the North. Or chat with Darren and Dave to come up with your own flight path. Buy your vouchers online from us now.
