What Can I Expect

Be the captain all day long on a ‘pilot for a day’ simulator experience! You’ll be putting in a full shift in your Airbus A320 office, learning just what a day in the life of a commercial airliner pilot is like.

This ultimate pilot day takes place at the sim centre near Whiteley in Hampshire. You’ll be invited to spend the whole day on site, from around 09:00 to 17:00. That gives you all the time to immerse yourself in the world of being a pilot on an Airbus A320.

The simulator is a full-scale, complete replica of an Airbus A320-200 flight deck. It is exactly as you'll find the A320 in the fleet of your typical short and mid-haul airline. It’s one of the most popular passenger planes, flying day in, day out around the world.

So, you’re sure to have flown in one, now it’s your chance to be the ‘boss’ of one of these 37m-long, single-aisle, twin-engined modern commercial airliners. Are you ready to be Captain for the day?

Your pilot duties start just as they would when a pilot arrives for their shift at the airport, with planning and briefing for the sectors you’ll be flying for the day. That could quite easily mean departing London Heathrow in the morning to fly to Edinburgh, then heading over to Paris Charles de Gaulle, before returning to LHR from the French capital. It’s all in the day of a commercial pilot!

You will be at the helm for all the pre-flight checks and departure procedures. Then you’ll start up, taxi and depart on your first flight of the day. Your simulator instructor will be playing the role of your First Officer, aiding and assisting so that you can make the most of your sim time.

And remember, with any weather configuration, thousands of airports and loads of flight paths, the world really is your oyster on these ‘Pilot for a Day’ simulator experiences!

  • Experiences start at 09:00 finishing at approximately 17:00 (alternative timings can be arranged by prior arrangement if required)
  • Dates are subject to availability

Suitable For

  • Minimum age 12
  • Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult
  • The simulator and briefing room is accessible by wheelchair and for those with limited mobility

  • This is a fixed base simulator and remains stationary throughout the session
  • The sim centre is located next to Whiteley shopping centre which has numerous restaurants and shops
