F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton was born and raised in Hertfordshire. In 1993, at the age of 8, the motorsport star had his first kart race at this actual track in Hoddesdon. He was a member of the kart racing club and trained a lot at this fabulous circuit.

And the multi World Drivers' Championship title winner isn't the only racer to have taken on the bends at Rye House Kartway. David Coulthard and Jenson Button have all raced here as juniors too. It now has legendary status as the incubator for future Formula One drivers.

Kids are super well-looked after at this Hertfordshire karting venue. If they're aged 8 to 16 years and are at least 4ft 4”, they can drive the junior sessions out on the main track, just like the grown ups.

To make it extra safe for the kids, only 12 karts are allowed out on the track at once. There's plenty of room for all the youngsters to properly go for it out there. It's all laid out like a proper Grand Prix track with run offs and the classic red and white kerbing on the corners.

It's a really good set up at Hoddesdon. And the fact that they have produced so many driving stars from a young age is testament to the quality of the karts, the circuit and the team organising it all.

Facilities are excellent too. Proud parents and family will be able to watch from the balcony as the kids whizz round and round, getting faster and faster with every lap. There's a good on-site cafe and lots of other activities to keep children entertained all day.
