The vintage biplane sitting on the apron at Compton looks like a Moth, but it's not. Look closely and you'll see this plane has a wider fuselage, with two rows of side-by-side (rather than tandem) seating. At the end of WW2 just 19 of the many Moths sold off as war surplus were converted by the company Jackaroo into four-seater tourers - and this is the only airworthy one left!

So this is a very rare chance to fly in the unusual Jackaroo. We make the most of the fact that it has four seats, by offering vouchers for the two of you to fly together. This is vintage aviation at its best, showcasing the ingenuity of British aero-engineering, turning what was left over from the war and sold off as cheaply as £50, into a great touring aircraft.

And indeed, Compton Abbas is a great place to fly from in the Jackaroo. You're on the edge of Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so as soon as you take off, there'll be stunning views all around.

Whether you stay on the local flying circuits around Compton, head down towards the coast, cruise in-land by the New Forest or explore the pretty Dorset villages all around. It is really something to see it all from the air - especially when it's from the cockpit of the Jackaroo.

• All participants must be able to walk 50 meters unaided and be able to safely board and egress the aircraft themselves
• Participants must declare themselves medically fit to fly with the consent form
• You should consult your GP if you have any concerns about flying

Spectators

• Spectators are welcome to come along and watch the take off and landing
• The airfield has excellent viewing areas and a cafe
