What Can I Expect

Deenethorpe is a great place to fly from, being easily accessible from the Corby, Oakham and Peterborough areas. The team offers training in all aspects of aviation, from ground school and trial flights, to aerobatics training.

If you opt for a two-seater lesson, you will be taking to the skies in an Aero AT3 aircraft. Trainee pilots love the Aero. They find it nimble in the air, with an impressive climb rate (the aerial equivalent of torque, in a way!) and a delight to handle. The bubble canopy ensures you have great all-round visibility - ideal for spotting the likes of Lyveden and Kirby Hall landmarks below!

Same with the four-seater plane. The Piper PA28 is one of the best-selling trainers of all time, much-loved by pilot instructors and there's more space onboard. And in fact, with the instructor's permission, you may be able to invite a friend or family member to join you as an observer passenger (payable locally on the day).

You will be with an expert pilot instructor for the duration of your flight. But it's you who will be sitting in the captain's seat. Yes, you might well feel a little nervous and apprehensive before being handed the controls, but once you settle into the job it's an amazing feeling. The nerves will subside and you will really start to enjoy your time in the air.
