What Can I Expect

Flying lessons in Harwich! A full range of trial flights in the funky low-wing Robin 2112 sports aircraft out of Great Oakley Airfield near Harwich.

We are offering vouchers for 30, 45 and 60-minute lessons. The Robin is a superb little trainer plane. You sit side by side in the cockpit and each seat has stick controls. The big bubble canopy gives you excellent all-round vision, so you can see exactly where you're flying.

The whole area around this small and discrete airfield is lovely. You're between Great and Little Oakley, just minutes from the A120 and Harwich, but surrounded by farmland. This part of East Anglia is an excellent area to learn to fly, with very  little controlled airspace around.

With pilot instructor Mark or one of his team, you'll be flying out of Great Oakley on either runway 09/27 or 04/22. Both are grass air strips and they are very well maintained. Before you know it, you'll be airborne!

Take a moment to drink in those coast and countryside views around Harwich, before you get down to the job in hand, which is learning how to fly. Yes, you will actually be flying this plane as part of your lesson - and it's great fun.

With your instructor pilot sitting beside you, you'll be shown basic skills such as flying straight and level, as well as initiating turns.
