What Can I Expect

Flying lessons in Bedfordshire - at a very special venue! If there's one name that's synonymous with flight training and lessons it's Cranfield. This former RAF station, now owned by Cranfield University, is where you'll take your experience in a four-seater aeroplane.

The university has a world-renowned reputation for being at the forefront of all things aeronautics and research, so this busy little corner of Bedfordshire is a great place to take your first lessons in flying at this CAA-approved flight training school on site.

In fact, Cranfield is known as aviation's 'best kept secret'. Many are aware of the airfield's background in flying, having opened as a strategic RAF airbase in 1935. It played a major role in WW2 and has been pivotal in flying education and training ever since. Amazingly, the original runway layout remains!

So now you know a little bit about the background of Cranfield, what will your lesson involve? Well, you will be flying in a four seater Piper PA-28 training plane. 

As soon as you've achieved straight and level flight your lesson properly begins, with your instructor handing over control to you to actually fly the thing! But don't worry, the Piper is a forgiving and reliable aircraft, which is far less twitchy and sensitive than other planes in the same low-wing, four-seater category.
