What Can I Expect

Just around the corner from this activity centre's HQ is what is known locally as ‘The Gazzle'. It's a section of coastline just beyond the main town beaches of Newquay that's a true hidden treasure (just ask the pirates who used to love these coves and caverns too!). It is simply stunning.

One of the best ways of exploring this gorgeous part of the Newquay coast is by kayak. The operator has a fleet of single and double sit-on-top kayaks. This is the type that is most suited to beginners, as they are nice and stable in the water. Your guides will teach you the basic paddling techniques you need.

Leading you over the rocks and down to the cove, you'll find your kayaks are ready and waiting for you on the shoreline. Hop on in and follow your guide as you set off to explore.

There's plenty of opportunity to stop and watch marine wildlife, from sea birds to sea lions. At some point you will moor up in your kayaks and get the snorkel kit out. Taking a peak under these waters will reveal life in the seas, from schools of fish, to perhaps even spotting a seahorse.

With so many hidden caverns and coves, it's little wonder this stretch of Cornish coast was once a favourite spot for pirates. And there have been some epic storms and shipwrecks around these parts too. Fascinating stuff that you'll learn more about during your trip by kayak!

• If strong winds or swells are forecast then your experience may be taken on a Super SUP as opposed to the kayak to provide you with a more stable craft on the water
• You will need to bring a change of clothes, swimwear for under your wetsuit and a towel
• Changing rooms, showers, toilets and lock boxes are available to use on site
