Survival Skills and learning to live in and make the most of the great outdoors is all the rage at the moment, thanks to all those telly programmes with the likes of Bear Grylls, Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall and even Jamie Oliver getting his oar into 'proper' life and cooking outdoors. Oh and of course we should mention that TV show where Celebs attempt to eat maggots without crying whilst living in the jungle!

This Bushcraft Skills experience is all about getting right back to basics and takes place in East Sussex near Brighton. One of the most basic being to build your accommodation for the night... certainly different to a hotel break!  Once your shelter has been put up it's time for some fire lighting skills as you will be cooking your own dinner on your own fires!

During the two days you will be given information on identifying fungi, plants and trees and their uses, how to collect and purify water as well as learning some important navigational skills.  You will also be given some guidance on contacting help and being rescued, so you will be fully prepared for your next adventure.

This is a very practical course and designed to get rid of any myths about survival, while teaching some realistic and useful skills.

The survival skills course runs on selected dates throughout the year March to October.


East Grinstead, Sussex.


There is a minimum age limit of 18 years.  Due to the nature of the locations and the activity, comfortable clothing and footwear are essential.  You must also take extra warm clothes and waterproofs with you.  Other equipment will include a sleeping bag, ground mat, torch, water bottle, notepad and pen/pencil (a full kit list will be supplied by the operator).  All food is provided although you will need to bring a plate, mug and cutlery.


This experience is not suitable for spectators.  You will be sleeping in the shelters you have made!
