River Trout Fishing Scotland

Airdrie, North Lanarkshire

Experiences Flash element

Make a splash with a Trout Fishing in Scotland experience! If you love the idea of a chilled out day on the banks of a river, surrounded by superb countryside and all that fresh air, this is the perfect fishing day for you - and hopefully you'll net a few fish too.

Your day starts with meeting your gillie for the day - the expert fisherman who'll be guiding you. They'll start you off with a session on the bank of the river to learn how to cast off with a fly. Once you've got the basics sorted, you'll head to a pitch on the river's edge and get yourself set up for a few hours of fishing.

Your catch will be wild Brown Trout, fishing at some of the finest rivers in Scotland, including the River Tummel, the River Garry and the River Tay. Don't be surprised if you find yourself battling to land a beautiful trout that's weighs in at 1kg (2lbs) - they're pretty common around these beats (the proper word for a fishing area in angling jargon).

Don't worry if you've never been Trout Fishing before, these venues in Scotland provide everything you need and as well as the basic tuition session if you need it, staff are on hand throughout the day to guide and assist.

Your Trout Fishing day in Scotland includes:
- Health and Safety briefing
- Basic fishing tuition for an hour
- Fishing on the river banks for four hours
- Personal fishing guide throughout your time at the river
- One to one advice on fly fishing
- All the equipment you need
- Refreshments
- A photo of your catch of the day
Please note all fish caught are released back in to keep the river stocked.

Experiences take place on most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. You will meet your guide at 9am and the experience will finish at 2pm.

Trout fishing experiences are available at various riverside venues all over Scotland including in the Aidrie and Pitlochry areas between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

There is no minimum age as long as children are accompanied by a participating adult. No Maximum age is required. All participants should be in good health. Wellington boots and suitable clothing for the weather is recommended. Bring food and drink along with you as the experience will last 5 hours.

Spectators are welcome to come and watch, but won't be able to fish. As fishing takes place on river banks throughout Scotland, there are usually no facilities at the river banks. Friends and family might want to arrange to visit the local area whilst you fish.
