For jumps with a difference make sure it's a FAB bungee! That's a Forward And Backward bungee jump, to give this mad experience its full name and if you're daring enough, you'll have an amazing double jump spectacular that is sure to satisfy even the most adrenaline hungry adventure sports fans.
The FAB bungee is available at venues throughout the UK and you'll be jumping from a crane platform a whopping 160ft above the ground. Some of the venues are over water, so as you jump all you can see is the lapping water rushing towards you, others are in city locations, so you get an amazing bird's eye view of the world before you plunge into the air.
The first part of the FAB jump is a forward bungee. After the safety briefing and getting kitted our you'll find yourself being hauled up in a metal basket to the full height of the crane. The gate opens and look down if you dare, but after the three second count you go head first. The second bungee is a real test of nerves. Standing on the jumping platform with your back to the abyss and looking at the bungee instructor you'll hear the countdown and then it's the mad, disorientating sensation of falling backwards.
Not for the fainthearted, this FAB bungee experience will see you performing not one, but two bungee jumps in the same day. The double jump is offered at venues throughout the UK.
Your FAB bungee will take place from a crane platform at around 160ft above the ground. Allow around four hours at the venue. You will do two bungee jumps during the day, one forwards and one backwards.
Jumps take place throughout the year, with a selection or venues offering jump dates at least once a month and others less frequently.
FAB bungees taking place on a regular monthly basis are at Windsor and Manchester. Once a quarter there are FAB jumps at Bristol and Scotland and at least once a year at Brighton, Birmingham and Cambridge. Windsor, Manchester, Bristol and Cambridge are all over water.
For FAB bungee jumps the minimum age is 14 and under 16s will require written parental consent. There is a maximum weight of 120kg or 18.9 stone. The harnesses used fit waists 40cm-125cm (15.7 inches to 49.2 inches). Over 50s will need to provide a doctor's certificate to be able to jump. You should seek medical advice before jumping if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, suffer from epilepsy, asthma or high blood pressure, have eye, back, neck or spinal column problems and you must inform the team if you are taking any medication. If you do suffer any of these conditions and have a medical certificate, you will also need to sign a non-standard disclaimer. You will not be able to jump if you appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Please note - do not wear glasses or contact lenses for the actual jump and boots may need to be removed when jumping.
Friends and family are welcome to come and watch the action. DVD, photographs and T-shirts are all available to purchase on site. The main Windsor site has a lakeside cafe, but facilities at other venues may vary.
