What Can I Expect

A fun tree climbing experience in Cumbria for little kids and big kids alike! Age so doesn’t matter for this wonderful half-day session spent in the forest climbing trees. Everyone should do this experience!

Your adventure begins at The Hermitage, the cottage in the heart of the Lake District near Ambleside. This is where you’ll meet your hosts and guides for the tree climbing experiences. And yes, they’re grown ups and yes, they do still climb trees!

Indeed, for youngsters it’s pure bliss and freedom in the forest. For grown up guests on the experience, it’s a chance to shake off the shackles of what we think being an adult is all about. Let go of your fears and inhibitions and get climbing trees, just like you used to do.

For younger tree climbers, it’s a great way to boost confidence and self-esteem, with the activity proving to be a super way for kids and young adults to express themselves, with all those lovely feelings of accomplishment and empowerment when you’re high in the tree looking down.

And whilst you’re up there, don’t be surprised if a squirrel scurries past, or birds fly into nests in the trees around you. You might even be able to quietly observe deer as they wander through the surrounding fields. This part of Cumbria is wonderful for wildlife watching - especially from your discrete viewing point up a tree!

You will be part of a group of up to 20 for these ‘happy ape’ sessions. Your hosts are very skilled at being supportive and encouraging, so you’ll feel safe to go for it and get climbing up those trunks and branches. You’ll be amazed what you achieve and we reckon you will feel rather proud of yourself - and quite right too!
