Tiger Moth DH82A
- NM137 started life in 1940 with the RAF
- Built by Morris Motors under licence from De Havilland and used for train RAF pilots
- Named 'Spirit of Pashley', after Cecil Pashley, a pioneer aviator and founder member of flying at Shoreham Airport
Stampe SV4C
- This open-cockpit Stampe dates back to 1930
- Also known as a Belgian Tiger Moth, it was designed and built as a sport aerobatic trainer

What Can I Expect
Tiger Moth and Stampe flights out of Shoreham Airport! We are offering 30, 40 and 60-minute experiences in your choice of biplane from this historic aerodrome on the West Sussex coast, also known as Brighton City Airport.
Shoreham is the country's oldest licensed, public-serving airfield, having first opened its runways to air traffic way back in 1910, so where better to fly in an iconic vintage aircraft?
The Tiger Moth was delivered to the RAF in 1940 and used as a trainer and communications aircraft under the serial number NM137 until 1948.
In 1991 a huge restoration project was launched and in 1999, she flew again over Shoreham. This Tiger Moth now proudly sports the moniker 'Spirit of Pashley', named after Cecil Pashley, the illustrious Chief Flying Instructor at Shoreham who flew more than 20,000 hours training budding pilots.
The Belgian-built Stampe is actually based on de Havilland's famous design. One difference is that the Stampe has a tailwheel, whereas the Tiger Moth has a tail slide. This means the Moth can only land on dry grass runways, whilst the Stampe can use grass and hard runways, so she can fly all year round.
The setting at Shoreham is perfect for a nostalgic day of Moth or Stampe flying. You will delight in being able to experience these magnificent flying machines capable of 109mph at 1000ft with their 120bhp DeHavilland Gipsy III piston engines.
Whether you choose to go up in the Tiger Moth from Shoreham, or that closely related cousin the Stampe, you will have a sensational aerial experience over the West Sussex coast and countryside.
