Terrariums (pronounced tuh-rare-ree-um) are sealable glass containers containing living plants. They're self-nourishing and completely self-contained. Each one has its own little ecosystem going on, where carefully chosen plants thrive by, effectively, recycling their own water. You can watch and see how they grow. It's fascinating stuff and thoroughly mesmerising too.

Ben and Darren, who experimented with their first miniature garden in a glass fish bowl, now have a lovely shop in King's Cross offering everything a terrarium gardener needs. They also host workshops such as these, to get first-time terrarium creators growing. Every course participant will head home with their very own planted terrarium and all the knowledge you need to keep your little indoor garden going.

These terrarium courses take place in the heart of the Coal Drops Yard restaurant and retail development at King's Cross, either at Ben and Darren's shop, or at the Samsung KX Experience Space, a unique space dedicated to events, experiences and meetings. It's right at the eye-catching 'kissing point' of the Heatherwick Studio-designed development built in a former Victorian coal depot and it's really funky.

During your two-hour course you'll each work on the creation of your very own terrarium. You'll learn how landscape your terrarium, which plants to use, where to place your finished terrarium in your home and how to look after it. All the materials and plants are included for you.
