What Can I Expect
Feel the healing power of fire and ice on a sauna and cold plunge experience in Devon! We are offering vouchers for shared and private wild sauna sessions at this forest park near Exeter.
The two friends who set up this wild sauna and cold plunge experience are big fans of saunas and their benefits for your physical and mental well-being. The authentic, wood-fired sauna they use was hand-built in Latvia, where saunas (or ‘pirtis’) are very much part of everyday culture for Latvians.
Bringing their Latvian sauna cabin to Devon, the two pals are very excited to be able to offer these wild sauna sessions with a window on the view over the Haldon Forest country park.
And of course, no sauna ritual would be complete without the contrast of cold afterwards, which is why they have also installed a cold plunge. The advice after the heat of the sauna is to go gently and gradually into the cold water, but you’ll feel amazing after!

- There is an no onsite shower or toilet block at the sauna, but both are available at the main Haldon Forest site
- Paid parking required
Participants should bring the following:
- Two towels. One for sitting in the sauna, one for drying off afterwards
- Swimwear to wear in the sauna (we’d suggest coming wearing this or with it under your clothes to get into the sauna faster)
- Don’t wear anything with metal fasteners as this will heat up in the extreme heat of the sauna and can cause scalding or burns
- Footwear (water/beach shoes are best) for when you’re outside the sauna
- Plenty of water (we recommend at least one litre per person)
- A change of clothes and a waterproof bag for your wet items
