What Can I Expect

An invitation to look around The King's Gallery! Our packages for two include The King's Gallery entrance tickets and a dining option of your choice at the historic Royal Horseguards Hotel.

Originally built as a private chapel for Queen Victoria, The King's Gallery was bombed and destroyed in the Second World War. Having been re-built, the building became a museum space to house selections of some of the Monarchy's most prized artworks and artefacts.

At the request of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the space was renovated and extended in time for the Golden Jubilee celebrations of 2002. A programme of changing exhibitions allows for up to 450 pieces of the Royal Collection to be displayed at any one time.

And indeed, The King's Gallery is a small and perfectly-formed Royal museum. Most importantly, many of the items on display have never been seen in public before. Many of them are gifts that have been given to the Royal Family over the decades and centuries. And some artefacts are hundreds of years old - and all in impeccable condition.

Most exhibitions are themed and all are steeped in history. No matter which collection you get to see during your visit, all the pieces are national treasures. As you might imagine, curating displays using items from the Royal Collection means there is plenty of choice!

After The King's Gallery visit, it's just a gentle stroll down to the Royal Horseguards Hotel on the Embankment, where your table awaits in the decadent dining rooms. Choose from afternoon tea with or without a glass of fizz, or a two-course luncheon with seasonal dishes. A great way to round off your visit to The King's Gallery.
