What Can I Expect
Give the powerturn buggies a go in Northumberland! These crazy, dual-engined buggies are a total handful and a right laugh. Let’s see how you get on driving them on the special powerturn track at Slaley Hall.
Well, when we say ‘drive’ them, it’s more like ‘trying to control’ them, as a powerturn buggy doesn’t have a steering wheel or any pedals for that matter. You steer using a joystick that controls the throttle and brakes…of either engine!
And yes, as this Slaley team knows, it’s ‘motorised mayhem’ as you’re never sure which way you’re going to go, whether the buggy will do a powerslide or an involuntary wheelie!
Try as you might, either driving solo or as a pair in the powerturn buggy, negotiating the course is going to be unpredictable to say the least, but mega fun at the same time - and you might even start to tame the buggy as your confidence builds.
In essence, the buggies are a pair of 200cc Honda engines, on a lightweight chassis with nothing much more than big mud flaps, a roll cage, a pair of bucket seats with harnesses and the joysticks. It’s back to basics in the best possible (and slightly madcap) way.
If you've already tried karting or dirt buggies, these powerturn buggies in Northumberland are a whole new experience that’ll have you in hysterics as you drive!
