What Can I Expect

The best powerboat driving in Edinburgh! We are offering half and full-day experiences to learn how to drive a powerboat, see the sights and observe the wildlife around the Firth of Forth.

Based at Port Edgar Marina in South Queensway, you're in the heart of the action at his vibrant leisure, boating, sailing and watersports port just west of Edinburgh. And it really is all about location, location, location here with the famous three bridges literally right in front of the slipway.

You've got the impressive, £1.35 billion Queensferry Crossing that opened in 2017. Then there's the old Forth Road Bridge which dates back to 1964 and is now for pedestrians and cyclists to cross. And after that you've got the iconic 19th century Forth Bridge which coined the idiom ‘like painting the Forth Bridge' and still carries rail traffic today.

And yes, on these powerboat experiences you will be heading right underneath the stunning Forth Rail Bridge!

But first, there's a little practice session within the harbour, so you can get used to the controls of the rigid inflatable boat (RIB). Once away from Edinburgh and the Firth, you'll be able to open the throttle and really go for it.

And of course, there's so much to see all around you. With any luck you'll get close enough to some of the local wildlife to take some great photographs. Depending on the time of year you could be snapping anything from little puffins to big Orcas!

If you opt for the full day sessions, you'll be powerboating out to some fabulous places including wild coastline and lighthouses. The stop off at Inchcolm Island is a highlight, with time to explore this 22-acre island with its Mediaeval monastery, visitor centre and WW2 ammunitions tunnel.

What's great about these powerboat driving sessions in Edinburgh is that the voucher is for a private charter lesson for up to three people. That means you can invite a couple of friends or family to join you out on the RIB for a fabulous time whizzing around the Forth all together!
