What Can I Expect

A fantastic Forge & Feast experience with the blacksmith of Stoke-on-Trent! Spend a few hours learning all about forging hot metals, to then sit down and use what you've made over lunch!

Fun, convivial and creative. That's what these sessions with talented blacksmith Genesis Rowley are all about. From the moment you meet your host, it's clear he is passionate about his work - and he's a great teacher too.

Of course, creating hand-forged pieces takes a lifetime to master, but you can learn some very key basic skills in a short time at the forge. Working the hearth as you hammer that hot metal is pretty physical stuff and you won't believe the look of concentration on the faces of the novice smithies!

With Genesis's encouragement, guidance and tutoring, that stick of bland metal will soon start to take shape. You'll be making a simple, but effective cutting knife and a pickle spike during your time at this blacksmith's forge near Stoke. Both items are rather beautiful in their simplicity, but the main thing is they are totally usable.

The proof is in the pudding when you down tools and let the anvils and hammers go silent to break for lunch. A selection of cheeses and some hearty bread will be served for you to sit down and share together with your fellow forgers.
