Kids will love this chance to learn kayaking in safe waters and get to grips with paddling. The action takes place at a purpose built boating centre, conveniently located in the centre of the UK near Leamington Spa in Warwickshire.
This experience operates as a group session with a maximum of eight, providing youngsters with approximately three hours on the water - plenty of time to find their water wings and gain confidence on the water!
The boating centre is located on the River Leam, an ideal location for both beginners and those with some experience. Sessions start on the shallow children's boating lake - ideal for introducing complete beginners, or the very nervous to the fun of kayaking.
During the session, kids can expect to learn the basics of paddle and boat control as well as general river safety. Once the basics are mastered, the group will head out into calm sections of the river to explore and play a few games and challenges to put their new skills to the test.
With lots of different boats available to hire at the centre the whole family can come along and enjoy the water as well. We've got lots of ideas for
teen presents so why not have a rummage on our kids experience search page now and find your perfect kids treat.

The session lasts approximately three hours, with a short break in the middle for refreshments. Maximum group size is eight. The centre is BCU (British Canoe Union) approved to provide canoe and kayak training with qualified coaches and all tuition and equipment is included.

Kids kayaking sessions operate on weekends and on selected dates during school holidays, however, if you have a group of four or more you can book anytime of the year (subject to availability). Activities may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions. Sessions are not cancelled because of wet weather as paddling in the rain is fun! Another great
gift idea from IntotheBlue!

The boat centre is located in Royal Leamington Spa's famous Victorian Jephson Gardens. Leamington's position within the Heart of England allows it to be easily accessed by a large number of people with easy access from the M40, M69, M6 & M1.

The age range is 8-13 years old (
Adult sessions are also available at the same centre). You must be reasonably fit and confident in the water, although it's not essential to be able to swim, as buoyancy aids are worn by everyone, however you must inform your instructor if you are not a confident swimmer. A medical declaration form must be completed before taking part which will need to be signed by a parent, guardian or responsible adult. You should wear basic sports clothing which you don't mind getting damp or wet such as shorts/old tracksuit, t-shirt and old trainers, sandals or wet shoes and a fleece is a good idea if it's cool. A towel and complete change of clothing and shoes is necessary. A second set of clothing to change into at the break is advisable. If you wear glasses it is a good idea to secure them with elastic.

Spectators are welcome. The boat centre is located within a Victorian boathouse, providing toilets, showers and changing rooms. Drinks, ice creams and snacks are available and spectators can even hire a boat and enjoy the river themselves. Being in the centre of town there is easy access to shops, restaurants, the botanical gardens and other visitor attractions. There is also a childrens playground adjacent to the centre.
