What Can I Expect

Go the distance with these light sports landaways! Take off from Deanland in East Sussex and fly over to the Isle of Wight or Le Touquet in France for a thrilling landway experience.

All landaways are operated by modern, light sports aircraft. They look just like your typical Cessna or Piper light aircraft, but are classed as microlights as they have been built with lightweight materials. These new generation aeroplanes are known as light sports aircraft as they are just that: light, with a very sporty performance!

We've chosen two superb landaway locations for you: the Isle of Wight and Le Touquet. The Isle of Wight with its famous Needles is a lovely place to visit, made all the more exciting when arrive by lights sports aircraft. You fly into Island Airport Sandown, which is a privately-owned airfield between Shanklin and Sandown.

As you can imagine, the views as you fly over Portsmouth and head to the island are fantastic. Once there, you've got time to visit the Island Cafe, which is right next to the control tower. This place is legendary for its bacon baps and mugs of tea - the fuel of pilots everywhere.

If you fancy going continental for your landaway, grab your passport and book your flights sports flight to Le Touquet. Known as Paris-Plage, this chic seaside destination was a favourite weekend haunt of rich Parisians in the 1920s and 30s. The town boasts art nouveau buildings, brasseries galore and miles of golden sandy beach.

You'll arrive at Le Touquet Cote d'Opale airport, from which it's a 3km ride by taxi or bike which can be hired at the airport on the pink tarmac roads (yes, seriously!) to the resort centre. It's well-worth a wander around the town, that way you can have a bit to eat (we recommend the moules frites!) before heading back to the airport for your return to base.

Both landaway destinations are available from Deanland in East Sussex. And don't forget, these return flights aren't just about the amazing scenery, you will have the chance to take control of the aircraft too, as experiences are conducted as proper training sessions. Book your lights sports landaway for a day out with a difference!
