Adele is back – and what happened when David Attenborough said ‘Hello’ to Adele!

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past couple of weeks, you’ll know that a certain London girl is back. Yes, Adele has reappeared after a three year hiatus to dazzle us with her brand new single ‘Hello’ which is currently number one in over 85 countries. But what has Britain’s favourite naturalist got to do with the nation’s favourite singing sweetheart?

Well, when the legend that is Attenborough appeared on Greg James’s BBC Radio 1 show recently, the cheeky DJ asked David to do one of his classic cool, calm and very observational commentaries to Adele’s new sepia-soaked video for ‘Hello’ – and the results are really rather special..

And yes, even David Attenborough has picked up on the flip-phone! Within 24 hours of the official video for ‘Hello’ appearing online, it had clocked up over 25 million views and seemingly almost the same amount of comments on Twitter about that old school flip-phone. Cue lots of quips about being surprised that Adele can’t afford a smartphone having sold squillions of records.

Hello, it’s me, can I upgrade my ‘phone?

In fact, French Canadian Xavier Dolan, who directed the video that was shot in an abandoned farmhouse in Canada, explained the phone saying he hates to film anything as newfangled as an iPhone. This is also why our Adele doesn’t drive up to the house in modern, faceless car, but chooses a classic Mini just like the ones we have in our Vintage Mini Cooper driving experience!

The other thing us Brits had a complete meltdown over is how Adele makes a cup of tea. You have to admit, no-one who knows their brew puts the bag in AFTER the hot water do they? But that’s exactly what happens in this video and again this tiny little detail caused a storm in the proverbial tea cup on the social medias!

Despite these little things, no-one can deny it is a triumphant comeback for Adele. Ever since she stopped us all in our tracks during that surprise ad-break on the X Factor the other week with 30 seconds of white words on a black screen and just couple of bars of music and we all knew instantly who it was.

She’s 27 now, has a partner, a little boy and a whole lot of money in the bank, but she remains the delightfully potty-mouthed London girl with the infectious laugh we love – except that now, be her own admission, she shops at Waitrose and not Tesco.

Adele is back at the top of the charts around the world

The new album ’25’ is out on the 20th November and rumours have it, it cost more than £4million to make, partly due to the fact that pretty much a whole album’s worth of song were ditched because, as Adele says, ‘they were boring’. This includes work done with Phil Collins and Damon Albarn, with the former saying she’s a ‘slippery fish’ and the latter pretty much slaying Adele as being insecure.

Despite this bickering, pre-sales have already reached four million albums and counting, so it’s already a surefire hit and Adele’s record label will be breathing a sigh of relief as they have recuperated the money!

But in all seriousness, as we watch the Adele ‘Hello’ video again for the umpteenth time, it’s great to have her back. And don’t just take out word for it, 219,811,675 views at the time of writing would imply that we all love Adele!
