One of our suppliers came all the way from Berkshire to see us at Into the Blue HQ in Kent the other day in a van loaded with Easygliders for us to try! Of course, we weren’t short of volunteers to head out to the ITB car park and give it a whirl on these admittedly rather odd looking gadgets.

Designed in Switzerland, the Easyglider was born out of the idea of having a light, eco-friendly and easily transportable personal transporter that could be used to pull you along. Easygliders are basically an encased electric motor within the hub of a wheel, with a single metal handle to steer, accelerate and brake with.

The models we tried (and the ones you’ll use on the experience) are the versions with footplate ‘chariots’ attached to the base of the wheels, but you can use them without this to pull you along on a skateboard or in-line rollers.

We have to admit, climbing onboard the Easyglider and controlling the throttle isn’t as easy as it looks and there were a fair few wheels spins going on before the Into the Blue gang got the hang of it. Imagine trying to hang on, accelerate, steer and brake with a single metal handle? Now you see why it really is a driving challenge!

Once up and running, we only had the staff car park to play in so couldn’t go full welly at maximum speed (which, unrestricted, is about 20 km/h) but we did do some rather nifty slalom-style turns on them, once we got the hang of leaning into the corners.

Amazingly, these Easygliders are road legal in Switzerland, meaning that they come with a mini licence plate and everything, but not so in the UK.

All in all this new Easyglider experience in Berkshire makes for a great value fun driving activity that is sure to be something they’ve not done before!
