What Can I Expect

Unearth all the secrets on a woodland photography masterclass near Coventry, with expert photographer Alan!  

These one-day courses combine theory and practice with a woodland walk in a lovely corner of national forest to the west of Coventry. Group sizes are kept small (a maximum of three students per course) to ensure the very best tuition.

Alan, your host, is a talented landscape photographer who has a passion and a deep understanding of outdoor photography. He is also a great tutor who is highly qualified, imparting his in-depth knowledge with enthusiasm and lots of encouragement.

Your day course with Alan is divided into sections, covering theory, camera set up and then shooting time on a two-hour woodland walk, followed by image review time and post-production skills once you've captured those fabulous landscape images.

You’ll learn lots, have fun and take some incredible photos, as well as enjoying a wander in the delightful woods not far from Coventry city centre.

It’s worth noting that these woodland photography workshops run on selected dates all year round, spread out through all four seasons, so you can capture the beauty of the local woodlands in winter, spring, summer or autumn.

Suitable For

• Under 18's are welcome but must be accompanied by a participating adult
• The fitness level required for this experience is easy; meaning that most people should be able to deal comfortably with the short walks (5- 15 mins - less than a mile) and occasional steps or gradual gradients involved and be comfortable on their feet for the duration of the location

• Not suitable for spectators

Anything Else

• Participants must attend with appropriate footwear and clothing to remain dry, warm and comfortable

• Your camera, fully charged battery and spare batteries if you have them

• Additional memory card(s) in case required
• Remote Release Cable to take shots without touching the camera
• Any lenses are suitable - zooms, wide-angle and macro
• Tripod is essential (tripods maybe loaned, please speak to course photographer in advance)
• A polarising filter is beneficial for removing glare and reflections but not essential
• Graduated and Neutral Density Filters - useful for increasing exposure, dynamic range and doing longer exposure
