What Can I Expect

See those world-famous standing stones from the air on this stunning Stonehenge Helicopter Tour! Stonehenge is one of the most recognisable neolithic stone circles in the world. Now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you can no longer go right up to the stones, so this tour by helicopter is the only way to get those amazing close up views.

Setting off from Thruxton Aerodrome near Andover. As you cross over the border into Wiltshire and fly over Salisbury, you will be on your direct heading towards Stonehenge itself.

The first glimpse of what's to come is when you spot 'The Avenue' from the air. This is the ancient way connecting the site with the River Avon. Built sometime between 2600 and 1700 BC, the route is aligned with the sunrise on the summer solstice and at the end of the path you'll spot Bluestonehenge, discovered in 2009.

Then you'll see the amazing sight that is Stonehenge before you. Take a moment to take in what you're seeing and reflect on the fact that parts of the circle date back to 3100BC. The purpose of the stones remains a mystery, even today, despite many theories...

We have to say, taking a camera with you on this particular heli trip is essential. It really is your once in a lifetime chance to see Stonehenge from the air. Forget the crowds of people below, this is sightseeing VIP style with uninterrupted views, so you can really appreciate the scale and form of those amazing rock pillars.

We are offering 15 and 30-minute Stonehenge helicopter tours for you. Going for the extended tour sees you flying over the likes of the North Wessex Downs or Cranborne Chase. Swooping over miles and miles of protected chalk plateau makes a superb prelude to the main event. Book your seat in the chopper now for your bird's eye view on Stonehenge
