What Can I Expect

Sightseeing and history combined on this Dambusters Helicopter Tour! These 30-minute rides follow the same flight path as the pilots from the 617 Squadron, heading over that iconic double dam and taking in some familiar landmarks too.

Your helicopter will be waiting for you at the Moorlands country pub, perched on the sweeping moors at Owler Bar, halfway between Sheffield and Bakewell on the cusp of Yorkshire. With its elevated spot, it's a great take off location for these Dambuster-inspired tours by helicopter.

To put your Dambuster day out in perspective, we go back to March 1943. A true story of skill, bravery and courage, when the 617 Lancaster Squadron trained for a top secret mission. It turned out the mission was the now famous "Dam Busters" raid on the Ruhr Valley in Germany...

Your flight will take a northwesterly direction towards the Derwent Valley, just like those WW2 pilots in training. Your Dambusters helicopter tour brings this significant moment in history to life for you in a wonderful way. It is utterly enthralling seeing the two dams from the air.

As well as the Dambusters, these really rather special helicopter sightseeing tours give you the opportunity to fly back to base in a southerly direction, taking in Chatsworth House and superb Derbyshire countryside that surrounds it.

This Dambusters Helicopter Tour has got to be one of the most exciting of our helicopter passenger rides. Not only will you be flying over some truly beautiful countryside on the day, you will also get an insight into what it may have felt like for those heroes practising for their daring WW2 bombing missions.
