What Can I Expect
Take off from a former RAF airfield and discover what it’s like to fly in a microlight over Lincolnshire! At Langworth airbase you’ll experience the thrill of getting airborne in one of these superlight aircraft, with the chance to have a go at flying one too.
With both flexwing and fixed-wing microlights available, there’s a flight to suit everybody. Durations range from 20 to 60 minutes, but no matter the length of the lesson you choose, you’ll be given the opportunity mid-flight to take over the controls and fly high in a microlight above the fields of Lincolnshire.
The school has two different types of microlight available to fly: the fixed-wing Thruster T600N Sprint and the flexwing Pegasus Quantum 912. The UK-built Thruster has a fully enclosed fuselage, boasts a responsive and reliable flying sensation and offers side by side seating.
The tandem-configured Pegasus is completely open to the elements, making it a very lightweight flying machine and is one of the latest models on the market boasting innovative aeronautical design and engineering excellence. Both types of microlight offer unparalleled and unobstructed views when flown across Lincolnshire, as well as providing an that technical microlight piloting challenge for those prepared to take the reins.
The airfield team is made up of seasoned fliers and all tutors are fully CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) qualified. Led by Malcolm Howland, who’s been flying microlights around Lincolnshire since 1977, they are all only too ready to show you the ropes and pass on their enthusiasm and love for these light, agile aircraft. All experiences also include a safety briefing from one of the instructors, ensuring you know the correct routines and techniques for a safe and enjoyable flight. No specialist clothing is needed either, so when you arrive on-site you’ll head more or less straight to the runway!
Whether you’re a seasoned sky-scraping flier or completely new to this aerial lark, being able to fly in a microlight in Lincolnshire is an unforgettable experience, be it flexi or fixed wing. With shorter stints available for those seeking just a taste of flight, or longer sessions for keen piloting pros, you’re sure to find the perfect microlight lesson and have the time of your life a few thousand feet up in the air.
