What can I expect on the day
Enjoy the magic of being on these superb hot air balloon flights over Kent! We have a variety of Kent ballooning options for you, so whether you fancy taking flight around Kent in a fabulous hot air balloon on a weekday or weekend, we've got early morning and evening departures on offer throughout the season between May and October.
Sure, it's an early start, but here's nothing quite so serene as a hot air balloon flight floating through the clear Kentish morning air over the magnificent countryside of the Garden of England. As the sunshine rises over the horizon you'll be floating up, up and away over Kent for a truly unforgettable ballooning experience. On the other hand, setting off late afternoon to watch the sun slowly set in the sky is also a breathtaking moment - so we'll leave the choice of when you want to go hot air ballooning over this lovely part of Kent to you!
Your hot air adventure starts with meeting the Kent balloon flight crew and what a truly delightful bunch they are at this family-run concern! Just watching how the team works together to inflate the balloon ready for take-off is fascinating. As the burners slowly and gracefully inflate the balloon and basket upright, you then climb aboard for balloon ride of your life.
A few more blasts of the burners and the ground is slipping away, roads shrink, houses become dolls houses and the colours of the fields and Kent countryside come to the fore as you rise up into the air in your balloon. Chief Pilot Michael has been flying over Kent since he first became a hot air balloon pilot in 1998 and with his excellent knowledge of the area and informative in-basket commentary, he will regale you with some superb anecdotes during your trip.
What we love most about these balloon rides is where you might go. Of course, there's a certain amount of navigation involved, but essentially it's all about where the wind blows. The team carefully plots all that before you take off and this influences which of the seven available launch sites around Kent that will be used on the day. You might float gracefully past Leeds Castle, or head over the majestic Canterbury Cathedral. If it's a clear day you can even see over the Kent coast towards France, or to the city of London.
Once back on Terra Firma after these hot air balloon flights from Kent, you'll gather to enjoy a champagne toast. You can also opt for a cold glass of Spitfire ale, as the Kent-based brewery sponsors the biggest hot air balloon this operator flies. You can even volunteer to help pack away the balloon with the team or just enjoy the champagne and chat about all that you've just seen on your wonderful Kent ballooning experience. There's even ample time to take photos and videos before being driven back to the launch site in the minibus.
