What Can I Expect

Take to the North Sea on these Norfolk fishing trips and see if you can sea fish! As one recent happy customer commented: 'This is how fishing should be. Just arrive and go fishing'. So without further ado, let us tell you what you can expect on the day you go sea fishing in Norfolk.

Your departure point depends on the time of year. In the spring and summer months, you set off from Brancaster Staithe. During April you can expect to be hauling in skate and cod, with May to October being Tope season. In the winter, it's a day of fishing for cod from Lowestoft Marina. And you'll more often than not catch a mackerel or two at anytime of year. Some of your catch (subject to fishing rules and etiquette) can then be taken home with you for the freshest, tastiest fish supper ever.

You'll be ferried out from the harbour to the fishing boat, which will be moored in deep water. Once onboard and the kettle on, your skipper will take you to the prime fishing spots. Experienced skippers like Jake know these Norfolk waters really well and know in which parts of the sea to look for which species of fish and when.

'Off The Hook' is a 10-metre long Offshore 32 fast fisher that's nice and stable in the water. There's plenty of seating space around the fishing stations. Each comes with rod, reel and bait - basically everything you need for a decent day's sea fishing on the cold waters off Norfolk's coast. There's even a loo onboard, which is no bad thing considering the bottomless cups of tea and coffee that are served during your fishing trip!

Even if sea fishing isn't 'your thing' these day trips give you the chance to take in all the best views of the Norfolk coastline. Depending on the time of year, you might head out of the estuary and around Scolt Head which is really pretty. Having (hopefully) fully loaded the bait bucket, it's time to up-anchor and head back into port as the sun sets. Bliss!

These Norfolk fishing trips are available all year round, include all the gear you need and offer a great day's sea fishing for all ages. Make a weekend of it with friends or family and discover this most beautiful part of Norfolk.
