What's Included

90 minute Paddleboarding Lesson
Welcome, introduction and safety briefing
Move from kneeling on the board to standing up, learn paddle strokes, turns and tricks and games
All equipment including boards, paddles, leashes, buoyancy aids and wetsuits (if required) are included
Lessons will take place with one instructor to a maximum of 6 participants (up to 12 participants may be arranged in advance when booking your date)

What Can I Expect

Nestled in the Somerset countryside not far from Frome, Shepton Mallet and Bath, you'll find Vobster Quay. This freshwater lake is home to different open water sports, from diving and wild swimming to paddleboarding.

The sessions we are offering are perfect for beginners wanting to discover paddleboarding for the first time, because tuition and gear hire is all included. The centre boasts an excellent selection of material and you'll be equipped with a paddle and board suited to your size.

Teaching is top-notch too. There is a definite knack to being able to stand up on a paddleboard and this Vobster Quay crew is there to encourage and motivate you. You'll start by getting used to kneeling on the board, then progressing to standing upright - and then it's just a case of learning how to correctly use the paddle and you'll be off!

By the end of the 90-minute Discovery session, most participants have got the hang of the sport and there is usually time to try a few paddleboard challenges and games out on the water for a fun finish to the session.

And a special mention about the facilities at Vobster Quay. Water sports users appreciate the plentiful free parking, the changing rooms with hot showers and loos. The whole area around the pontoon is great, with a food truck, terrace seating, a dive shop and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
