What Can I Expect

A most scholarly Oxford tour with Shakespeare and the Cotswolds included! These full-day, fully-guided tours by coach from central London will take you on a literary and historic journey to the Shires and the Wolds.

Leaving the London cityscape behind, you'll soon be travelling through rolling countryside on your way to Stratford-upon-Avon, the first stop on this fascinating day trip. Of course, the town is synonymous with the famous bard William Shakespeare, but there's so much more to see besides.

The town centre with its pedestrianised streets, wood-timbered buildings, small boutiques and cafe culture is a delight. It's also where you'll find the birthplace and childhood home of Shakespeare and entry is included on this tour. After that, you'll have time to discover the riverside area, with its lovely gardens and the Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres as the backdrop. If you have time, pop into Holy Trinity church just behind - it's where Shakespeare and his wife are buried.

The journey from Stratford to Oxford is superbly picturesque, as you traverse the Cotswolds. Delightful market towns and villages, filled with thatched-roofed cottages and lovely stone houses line the banks of brooks and rivers.

On arrival in Oxford, it's time to discover this city of spires. It's all about education with 38 different Oxford Uni colleges dotted around this historic town. Highlights of your Oxford tour include the Bodleian Library, the domed Radcliffe Camera building and the Ashmolean Museum. There's so much to see - and hopefully you'll have time for a cuppa in one of many cafes and tea shops too.

Having seen all the sights and listened to the commentary from your guide, it's time to board the coach for your journey back to London. Book your seat on the Oxford day tour for a lovely day out that's most definitely educational and fun!
