What Can I Expect

Microlight flights in Scunthorpe! Book a 15, 30 or 60-minute experience out of North Moor airfield. You can choose to go flex or fixed-wing and decide whether you want to sightsee or do the flying.

If you want to go microlighting in the North Lincolnshire area, this small, but perfectly-formed airfield in the village of Messingham, just a few miles south of Scunthorpe, is a great choice.

North Moor has been home to this vibrant microlight school run by a husband and wife team since Bethan took over the ownership and management of the airstrip in late 2022. The 24-year old commercial pilot and flying instructor is a breath of fresh air and her enthusiasm and dynamism gives the airfield a bright future.

The hangars are now full at North Moor. And several of the residents are microlights belonging to this friendly training school. If you fancy going back to basics, go for the flight in the flex-wing Pegasus Quantum for that open-cockpit experience. The fixed-wing Thruster T600 has an enclosed cockpit for that you want to be a little bit cosier in the air.

And, as we've already said, it's totally up to you if you want to take the flight as a lesson, or you prefer to sit back and take in the views. There's so much to see from your microlight as you fly the local Scunthorpe area. From golf courses and the patchwork of farmed fields, to the North Lincolnshire coastline and city landmarks such as the Humber Bridge and Lincoln Cathedral.

During your pre-flight briefing you will work out with your pilot instructor what you'd like to do and where you'd like to go. You're in unrestricted airspace here, so there's that lovely sense of freedom when you go microlighting from this lovely corner of North Lincs.
