What Can I Expect
Set off on an excursion to visit the quintessentially English countryside when you enjoy a Lake District day trip from IntotheBlue! You will tour picturesque villages, country houses and market towns, as well as enjoying some time on the water and a tasty British treat too.
Your day trip to the wonderful Lake District starts with meeting your tour rep at London's Euston Station, who will ensure you have your tickets and will wave you off on the 08:30 train to the heart of the Lake District. On arrival at Oxenholme you'll be met by a local guide who will be assisting you on your trip for the day. Cheery, full of facts and figures and with a repertoire of stories and historical anecdotes, you will be positively enthralled.
From Oxenholme you'll be taken by coach to Hill Top Farm for the visit of your day trip. This Lake District property isn't just a beautifully preserved country house, it was actually the home Beatrix Potter. This is a magical place to visit. It's not a grand house, but the charm is in the fact that it has been left just as it was when Beatrix Potter was alive, with many of her personal effects on show. And when you're admiring those lovely Lake District views in the gardens, keep your eye out for bunny relatives of Peter Rabbit, often seen hopping around the vegetable garden.
Next stop on your Lake District tray trip itinerary is Hawkshead. Photogenic and incredibly pretty, this medieval village is a true delight of the South Lakeland area. You'll have time to explore the cobbled streets with their beautiful old buildings and learn more about that Beatrix Potter connection and the links to William Wordsworth that the village has too.
Your day trip then takes you to a little gem of a spot in the Lake District National Park - Tarn Hows. Surrounded by peaks and greenery, it is truly an oasis of woodland tranquility. Another highlight of this day follows, as you take a boat trip on Lake Coniston. After all that sightseeing, visiting and walking, you day concludes with one last trip, this time to a cosy Lake District country house hotel for a very special treat…
Lindeth Howe Hotel has a lovely, relaxed country house feel, boasting fine dining but in an unpretentious fashion. You will be led into the cosy lounge area for a tasty afternoon tea, so you can tuck into scones, Brownies and sandwiches, served on a tiered stand and accompanied by a new freshly brewed cuppa - the perfect way to round off a activity-packed day trip to the Lake District.
We think this trip includes all the very best things you can do in a day in the Lake District. So, if you know someone who would relish immersing themselves in some fine English countryside, or have a loved one who is a fan of the very cute Beatrix Potter books, our Lake District day trip offers the perfect mix of fascinating country houses and cute villages with a lake cruise and high tea included.
