What Can I Expect
Gasp at the gorgeousness of the coastline from the air on these helicopter flights over Cornwall! Based on the edge of Bodmin Moor, you can look forward to top-notch tuition and great views covering all corners of the county on these hands-on experiences.
The big advantage of being in a chopper is the fact that you can get from A to B really quickly, yet you fly low enough to be able to make out everything . So whilst most of us are trundling along twisting and winding Cornish country roads (and probably getting stuck behind a caravan at some point), you'll be taking off vertically and whizzing away rather rapidly in your fancy heli!
We are offering 20, 30 and 60 minute flights from the operator's private base at a farm in St Breward. The location is just north of Bodmin itself and easily accessible from the A30 dual carriageway.
The helicopter used for these flights is a Robinson R44 Raven II. These are very smart four seater machines that can handle all sorts of flying, meaning that when they are not being flown on training sessions, the R44 is very much at home doing everything from aerial photography assignments and heliporterage to remote sites, to wedding transfers and VIP trips.
As for your time in the helicopter, you have the best of both worlds as you get to fly over some classic Cornish places, from Padstow in the west and St Austell to the south, or perhaps in-land over Colliford Lake and Liskeard. As well as all those very photogenic vistas, you also have the chance to master the hover for yourself when you try out the controls of the chopper, under the watchful eye of your fully qualified instructor pilot, of course.
In essence, our helicopter flights in Cornwall combine the joys of discovering rotary flight and showing you how a helicopter works, with looking out on some of the best looking little fishing villages, the most golden sandy beaches, those distinctive jagged headlands and the windswept Bodmin Moor too.
