What Can I Expect

The Velis Electro is a fully-certified 100% electric light sports aircraft. And it's the first of its type in the world. It looks just like your conventionally-powered plane, but the power to turn the propeller comes from a next-generation, liquid-cooled electric battery system. And just like your electric car, the Velis Electro plugs in to be recharged!

With a flight range of around 50-minutes, these all-electric planes based at Damyns Hall in Essex are ideal for trial flying lessons and training. Inside the cockpit you'll be sitting side-by-side with your pilot instructor, so you can see everything that's going on.

The LCD display in front of you tells you all about the electric powertrain. And unlike a combustion engine plane, no pre-take off warm-up is needed, it's just four switches for power up and you're ready to go. There's also a massive reduction of in-cockpit noise and, of course, there are zero C02 emissions.

In terms of performance it's easily equal to a conventionally-powered aircraft. If anything, an electric plane is simpler to operate and maintain. Far fewer moving parts, with batteries behind the nose and in the rear of the cockpit powering you rather quietly through the sky.
