What can I expect on the day

Give it some pedal power in the capital with a London Bike Tour! Go for the East or West End as your chosen area for an afternoon of exploring and touring on your bicycle, as your guide takes you on a spin around London’s key cultural and historical sites on two wheels.

Both bike tours begin at London’s Gabriel Wharf on the south side of the river, where you’ll meet your cycling host and the rest of your group. Everyone is then given a bicycle to suit their size and ability, along with a safety helmet, before it’s time to hit the streets and get pedalling.

The West End bike tour encompasses some of the most exclusive areas London including Mayfair, Soho and Covent Garden, covering around seven miles of roads in a two-wheeled trek that lasts approximately three hours. On the way you’ll stop off at sites such as Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, as well as taking a short jaunt through Hyde Park – celebrated haunt of the well-to-do in years gone by – and exploring the offers of the Bond Street and Oxford Street boutiques.

In direct comparison, the East End tour will show you the down-to-earth side of London life, as ride your bicycle through the disused docks, narrow twisting streets of Whitechapel – home to the notorious Jack the Ripper – and past the theatres of Shakespeare’s heyday, before plunging back into the tangle of roads and back alleys that make up the City. At a slightly lengthier nine miles and lasting three and a half hours, this bike tour will show you the flipside of London.

Both cycle routes favour the quieter side streets over the bustling main roads through the London, so you’ll be able to enjoy the unusual mix of sightseeing and exercise in relative calm. A break is incorporated into each excursion, giving you a chance to refresh yourself and take advantage of a welcome drink or bite to eat before you hop back on the saddle to continue your tour.

Your bicycle-based tour of London finishes back at the wharves, where the rest of the afternoon and evening is your own to revisit some of your highlights from your ride, or perhaps discover those parts of London you’ve not yet had the chance to see.

Don't forget to bring your camera along with you to snap the sights as you use your pedal power on these fabulous London bike tours - and expect lots of great banter and anecdotes too from your friendly tour guide! A brilliant way to combine a bicycle ride with a sightseeing tour to discover London at ground level.
