What Can I Expect

Where better for 4x4ing than North Yorkshure! God's own county is full of undulating fields and windswept moorlands, making it the ideal terrain for proper off-road vehicles.

At this 4x4 centre near Thirsk you'll be in the hands of some very experienced off road drivers. They teach off road driving skills to professionals here and have even been featured on the TV show ‘Yorkshire Vet'. So if you're in North Yorkshire and you want to know about 4x4 driving, this is the place to come.

We are offering a full range of experience durations. If you're a first timer we can highly recommend the Taster session. After that we've got one, two or three-hour sessions on offer. All lessons are taught on a one to one basis, so you won't be under scrutiny from other participants when you're behind the wheel!

Having said that, you are very welcome to bring a friend along for the ride (as long as they're not too much of a backseat driver!) and that costs nothing.

You also have a choice of vehicle. Go iconic in a Land Rover Defender, or go new kid on the block in the Ford Ranger Wildtrak. The Landy is hands down one of the toughest 4x4s around, built to tackle the most treacherous terrain known to man. The Ranger is a tough and rugged pick up, which makes working in the countryside a doddle. It's also great fun to drive. 

And as for where you'll be driving? This purpose-built 4x4 site in North Yorkshire is divided into five routes, ranging in difficulty from beginner right up to pro - but don't worry, you won't be expected to drive them all. You'll start on the lead-in route, which will allow you to get to grips with the traction, gearing and balance of a 4x4 in its natural habitat.

• Courses run on weekends and weekdays throughout the year
• Morning and afternoon sessions are usually available

Suitable For

• Minimum age is 13
• Minimum height of 4ft 6ins
• No driving licence is required
• Under 18's must be accompanied on site by an adult

Spectators

• Due to the off road nature of this activity it is not suitable for spectators however experiences can be shared with an additional driver for an extra fee payable on the day
• Snacks and drinks are available to purchase on site
