What can I expect on the day

Visit the Bimber distillery to taste gin, sample vodka and tour the distillery too! This London micro distillery has been making waves in the world of spirits since opening in 2015. The craft distillery produces a range of spirits, including vodka, gin and whisky made with the very best ingredients using traditional distilling methods, all of which you’ll see on this tour.

But first things first, how about a little welcome tipple? Gather around the distillery bar for a Gin or Vodka tonic, as introductions by your tour guide are done. Whilst you sip away, the history of Bimber distillery will be explained to you - and in case you’re wondering, Bimber is Polish for moonshine!

You’ll also touch on the heritage of London Dry Gin, which is one of this distillery’s best selling spirits. Despite the name, you don’t have to make your gin in the capital for it to be called a London Gin, but there are strict criteria you have to meet. For example, it can only be made using only Juniper and other natural ingredients, no flavours or colours can be added after distilling and an absolute minimum of sugar only to be used. That explains why it’s a lovely clear gin that never has that sweet or syrupy texture to it.

Glass emptied and head filled with the history of Gin and Vodka, your tour takes you down onto the distillery floor where the magic happens. It’s like some kind of fantastical chemistry lab down there, with the copper stills gleaming at you. You’ll learn how Bimber Gin is a single-shot pot distillation process, with neutral wheat spirits being infused with 10 classic botanicals. As to what each of those are, wait until the tasting!

You’ll also see how Bimber make their 100% English Barley Vodka. It’s distilled from high-grade English Barley and triple distilled at that, to give it a superior flavour that’s creamy, soft and buttery. Then there’s the ’Starka’-style spice-infused Bourbon cask matured Vodka made from twice-distilled rye grain and infused with vanilla, cinnamon and cloves. Oh and we mustn’t forget the delicious Infused Vodkas this busy artisan London distillery produces, including Summer Fruits, Cherry, and Blackcurrant.

Your time at the Bimber distillery comes to a close after you’ve had a tasting of a selection of their handcrafted gins and vodkas.  And those gin botanicals? We won’t spoil the game, but think citrus and spice to make all things nice!
