Go head to head in some really super supercars in Stafford

On our recent visit to this rallying and supercar operator in Staffordshire, the guys and girls told us about this new supercar head to head experience that they are now offering – and it’s a good one!

You get to choose to drive two cars from a pool of four of the finest supercars out there at the moment : the Audi R8, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 360, and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. We have to say, it’s not often you find yourself in such a quandary, so make the most of it.

We were lucky enough to take a drive in the Audi R8 and we have to say it was absolutely amazing. Climb into the driver’s seat and the first thing you notice is the rather odd-shaped steering wheel. It’s not completely round – there’s a flat bit at the bottom. Then there’s the six speed gear box. It’s one of those click-clack style ones with exposed metal gate and believe us there’s such a temptation to look down when you’re changing gear.

With all these little idiosyncrasies, the Audi R8 really is a very special car and you’ll know just what we mean when you get it roaring up the high speed straights – it’s such a head turner of a car.

If you choose the head to head experience in Stafford you get six driving laps in each of the two supercars you choose, so you’ve plenty of time to decide which is your favourite.

After that, it’s time to be a passenger, as one of the expert drivers takes you on a high speed passenger ride. We hopped in to the RS Ford Focus not expecting much to be honest (afterall, it looks just like our Auntie’s Ford Focus and she never goes over 65mph). Little did we know the combination of a very souped-up racing Ford Focus + championship winning driver = an eye-poppingly fast ride around the circuit with the back end wobbling and tyre smoke to boot! Truly awesome.
