Body Boarding is a fun and exhilarating form of surfing that is less technically challenging than stand up surfing. We could say it's the perfect solution for wannabe surfers in Cornwall with no balance, but it is in fact a wave sport in its own right.

When you head out into the open sea with your bodyboard and set of fins, it's the surf versus you in a neoprene suit! The positioning of your body on the wave allows you to get closer to the power of the wave and enjoy the thrill of wave riding.

A body board is a lot shorter than a traditional surf board, making it easier to control in the water. As the waves approach, you pull your upper body onto the board and paddle with your fins - the result is a noisy, foaming high speed ride as you sweep in towards the shore. With no standing up (and less falling off) you can maximise your time just riding the waves.

The instructors and equipment for this activity are mobile in and around the Newquay area, so you can be assured of learning in the most suitable surfing conditions. IntotheBlue offers a selection of surfing related activities, please see our main surfing lessons page for more information on body boarding.
Half days last between two and three hours and you may be part of a small group of up to 16 others taking part on the day, although usually groups are much smaller. All equipment, protective clothing and wetsuits are provided as required. The operator is a member of the Adventure Licencing Authority.
Activities take place all year round (subject to suitable conditions) on weekends and selected weekdays. Half day sessions usually start at 0930 and 1330. If conditions prevent a particular type of activity taking place, you will be offered an alternative activity on the day or an alternative date.
Various sites are available in and around Newquay in Cornwall.
There is no minimum age for this activity, however participants must be competent swimmers. Under 18's must be accompanied on site by an adult. You should bring swimwear to wear under your wetsuit, a change of clothes and a towel for afterwards.
