This sailing day experience is a hands on introduction to sailing out of Ipswich Marina. And what a way to learn!  This 42' Bavaria Cruiser is an impressive vessel equipped with the latest in sailing technology - it's certainly no dinghy!

The boat has enough space to sleep seven people, two bathrooms and a fully equipped galley and lounge means you will be spending your day in considerable comfort. The day is specifically geared towards beginners, so no previous experience is required or expected. You will be encouraged to take part in many aspects of sailing the yacht, including setting sails, tacking, helming and navigation. You'll find that despite its size the yacht is easy to handle and you will quickly find yourself helming like a professional under the guidance of your fully qualified skipper.

The day usually starts at 1000 for coffee followed by a safety briefing and a full tour of the yacht's facilities.  You will then head out into the North Sea for a thrilling sail.  Depending on the conditions you may drop anchor off the coast for a light lunch or eat underway, returning to Ipswich by 1700. A selection of alternative sailing courses are available at other marinas. 

This full day sailing experience lasts approximately seven hours (0930- 1630). Tuition, harnesses, life jackets, tea/coffee/water and a packed lunch are included.  The maximum group size is five guests with two crew.

The minimum age for this yachting day in East Anglia is 14 and the maximum weight is 18 stone. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. You should wear non-marking soft soled shoes (trainers or deck shoes) and several layers of clothing including waterproofs if you have them. Sunblock, sunglasses, hat and a camera are also advisable. Sailing requires a degree of physical exertion.


Spectators cannot be accommodated on board. The yacht has toilet facilities and there are changing/shower facilities at the marina.
