The yachting course provides an introduction to sail cruising for complete novices. Your home for two days will be the spacious and luxurious sailing yacht owned and operated by the supplier for teaching purposes.

By the end of the course, you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work and be aware of safety on board and being an RYA approved course, you will walk away with a nationally recognised certificate. Two days and two nights will be spent onboard the yacht. Tuition, accommodation, meals, fuel, harnesses and life jackets are all included. On successful completion of the course syllabus, you will be presented with an RYA Start Yachting Certificate. To ensure full participation by all, numbers will be limited to a maximum of five students per course although four is the usual group size.
Courses are available on selected weekends, from March through to September. You'll need to join the yacht the evening before the course start date, usually spending Friday and Saturday nights on board.
Ipswich, East Anglia - the marina is close to the town centre and just a five minute walk from the train station.
No previous sailing experience is required. The minimum age is 14, however students under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The maximum weight is 18 stone. No smoking below decks. Please be aware that your instructor will need to be satisfied that you have demonstrated the appropriate level of competence before a course completion certificate will be awarded. You should wear soft soled shoes and bring wet weather gear if you have it. A hat or cap, sailing gloves and a few changes of clothing are advised along with sun block, sun glasses, camera, sleeping bag and pillow case, wash gear and bath towel.
There is no room for spectators here - you have to buy a voucher and join in the fun yourself! The yacht is fully equipped to sleep up to seven people, it has two bathrooms with showers, a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable dining/living area. The yacht is equipped with the latest GPS technology, colour chart plotter and radar. Back at the marina, there is free car parking, showers and toilet facilities.
