Start Kayaking Course Dorset

Get some paddle power on this one day kayaking course in Dorset! Taking place on the calm, flat waters of this saltwater inland lake, you'll find you'll be starting kayaking in ideal conditions. Even if you've never even stepped in to a kayak before, this course is the just ticket to get you paddling in just one day.
The course starts by teaching you how to get into your kayak, what clothing you should wear and other essential information to make sure you're happy and having fun in your kayak. Once out on the water, you'll be shown how to paddle forwards, backwards, to turn and how to stop. You will also start to get a sense of how paddle, boat and water interact together.
All teachers are really patient and want you to have fun in your kayak, the idea is that you enjoy your first strokes in paddling and learn lots at the same time. The course In Dorset is suitable for children from the age of 10, so you can make it a proper family day out on the water!

This is a one day start kayaking course. It will teach you all the essential skills need for becoming a paddler. The course will include theory and safety awareness, equipment selection, forward and backwards paddling over a 100m distance, turning, launching and recovering, steering and controlling skills and capsize drills.

Courses start at 10 am and finish at 4pm and are available on both weekdays and weekends to suit demand.

The kayaking course takes place at Poole Park Lake in Dorset, the largest inland saltwater lake in the UK.

There is a minimum age of 10 years old. All under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.

Spectators are welcome to attend. They may not be able to see all of the water sports however there are plenty of attractions in the area.
