River bugging is the latest craze from down under and adrenaline is guaranteed as you take to the River Tummel in Perthshire in your personal River Bug!

Bugging is a great way to see the river from a different perspective, whether it's in full raging spate or showing the calmer face of the summer. In fact, high water or otherwise, bugging is a thrill a minute - and not to be missed if you can keep a cool head when the spray is flying, the river is deep and you're getting soaked!

Don't worry if you've never done River Bugging before, you'll get expert tuition from some of the world's most experienced white-water professionals, including the acknowledged pioneer of bugging, who just happens to be the chief instructor - and who has come all the way from New Zealand.

Allow spending up to three hours at the venue, with approximately one and a half hours out on the water. You will be provided with wet suits, gloves, safety vests and helmets. After an introduction on dry land you'll try the bugs out on still water before you tackle the rapids, drops and splashes of the river under the guidance of an experienced instructor. River Bugging session take place on weekdays and weekends throughout the year. Morning and afternoon sessions are usually available.


Minimum age is 12 years. There's an element of risk, of course, because the water is cold and fast. But with expert tuition and a ratio of one instructor to just four bug-riders, you'll be as safe as your daring instincts allow you to be! Non swimmers are accepted but will need to make instructors aware.


Spectators are welcome at no additional cost, although this is not an ideal spectator activity. There's a Clubhouse, toilets, catering - hot and cold food available.


Good quality and very reasonably priced accommodation is available on site (early booking is essential). There are also numerous hotels close-by.
