Go white water rafting on some of the most technical and exciting rapids produced by man at Nottingham's prestigious National Water Sports Centre!

The first rapid you will encounter is the sluice wave, created by the sluice gate that controls the flow of the course. From there you will pass through the top narrows and several wavy sections before reaching the first major pool, the pyramid pool. After that, you'll pass under the middle bridge and then drop into the looping pool, where the rafts often play in possibly the best wave on the course.

If all that doesn't sound mad enough, once you're out of the bottom of the looping pool, you reach the most intense part of the course, with the plughole and muncher stoppers leading you into a big wavy section. Rounding the corner after the waves is a flat section which then leads into the bottom stopper. This wave is where you'll spend a little time at the end of your session. It will literally test your ability to hold on tight as you're bounced around the raft! Once let go, you'll drift down past the bottom narrows, get out and back onto the river and around you go again. This is a great activity for both men and women but why not take a look at our gifts for men page to find a whole range of thrilling experiences, perfect for the adventurous and thrill seekers alike.

Rafting experiences last approximately two hours with around one and three quarter hours on the water, enough time to descent the rapids 3 - 4 times. You will receive a full safety briefing, training and equipment including paddles, buoyancy aid , helmet, splash jacket and of course the raft!  Wet-suits are also available (£10 deposit required on the day). Another amazing experience from IntotheBlue.
Sessions run between April and October with 2 hour courses taking place on Saturdays. Bookings need to be made at least 7 days in advance. Please allow plenty of travelling time to reach the centre, arriving 30 minutes before your slot time so you can sign in, get kitted out in plenty of time. Please note, on rare occasions, the course may be closed  if the water levels are too high. Rafts take a maximum of 8 people plus the guide, there are usually up to three rafts in use. Rafting experiences are also available in other white water venues, please see our main  white water rafting page here.
Five miles East of Nottingham located in 270 acres of national park. There is easy access from junction 24 or 25 of the M1. The nearest Train station is Nottingham.

Friends and family are welcome to the beautiful water park surroundings. There are good facilities on site - lots of car parking, toilets, showers changing rooms, cafés serving snacks, drinks and hot meals and a children's playground area. There is an excellent view over the main rapids from the bank that runs alongside the entire rapids course. Accommodation can be provided on site with rooms from as little as £39, there are also a number of hotels and B&Bs nearby.

I bought this experience for my friend to celebrate her 18th Birthday. We had a fantastic day (especially when I fell in!), met lots of new people and got excellent value for money. We are now going to get a group of people together so we can go back! I am going to be hard pushed to find something to top that for her 21st!

I bought my then boyfriend (now husband) and I vouchers to go white water rafting in Nottingham for his birthday which was great. The experience lasted several hours and it was great fun watching my husband rescue others from the water when they fell in (don't worry, no danger it was more funny than anything else). He even voluntarily dived in to ride the rapids on the last run. He rated it as one of the best things he has ever done.
