Seductive tropical rhythms at this Salsa Dance Class! Salsa has been described as dancing with attitude and it's certainly true to say that salsa has been one of the biggest dance trends of recent years, even though its roots go way back.
The Salsa dance style has a record company to thank for its name. As many Cubans emigrated to the USA in the late 1950s, the exile communities brought their musical and dancing traditions with them. One record company wanted a name to cover all the variants of music the Cubans loved to dance to and they called it Salsa.
Salsa soon started referring to the dance, as well as the music, which was quickly becoming one of the most popular styles of partner dancing in the urban areas of the US. The dance spread worldwide and has produced Salsa clubs the length and breadth of the UK too.
For your Salsa dance class you will be invited to take part in a group class, hosted by an experienced Salsa teacher. You'll spend around 45 minutes on the dancefloor learning the moves and as most classes host social dancing after the class, you might find yourself staying on for more Salsa fun.
