What is a hamam? - A hamam or Turkish bath is the middle Eastern variant of a steam bath which is a 'wet' relative of the sauna. In Western europe the Turkish bath became popular in the Victorian era as popular method of cleansing the body and relaxing. The process involved in taking a Turkish bath is similar to that of a sauna, but is more closely related to the bathing practices of the Romans. Traditionally a person taking a Turkish bath first relaxes in a 'warm' room heated by a continuous flow of hot, dry air allowing the bather to perspire freely. Bathers may then move to an even hotter room before splashing themselves with cold water. After washing, bathers enjoy a massage before retiring to a cooling room for a period of relaxation. Don't forget to see our main gifts section for more ideas on special occasion gifts.

Your experience includes a short consultation, a half hour in the Hamam where you can apply the soaps, wash and relax, followed by a half hour massage. Allow spending an hour and a half at the venue.
