Parachuting in Lancashire
This parachute school set in the Lancashire countrysde near Lancaster has been under the same management since 1964. They are one of the longest established parachute training centres in the UK. Alternative
parachute clubs are available throughout the country.
This venue is conveniently located near the M6 motorway and is very accessible from the north west of England.
Experience summary: Static Line jumps take place from 3,500ft. Training for Tandem Sky Dives will take around 20 minutes and is normally carried out in the morning with the jump following soon after from a height of 10,000ft. This Drop Zone currently uses an Islander aircraft with a capacity of nine, which can get up to and down from 10,000ft in 30 minutes. A Pilatus Porter aircraft will be in use from March onwards which has a capacity of nine and can get up and down to 15,000ft in 14 minutes! Dives can be recorded on video for a fee of £70 payable on the day but must be booked in advance. All Tandem jumpers will receive a personalised souvenir certificate.
Provisional membership to the British Parachute Association is also included with each jump.
Availability: Training for the Static Line course takes a whole day, starting at 0800 and finishing sometime around 1700 in the evening. During the summer months with the extended daylight, first time solo jumpers will normally jump in the evening on the day they trained (weather permitting). During the winter months when sunset is earlier your jump will normally be carried out the following day.
Requirements: The minimum age for parachuting is 16, applicants under 18 must have written parental/guardian consent. Applicants aged 40 and over should request a British Parachute Association Medical Certificate for completion by their doctor before their course. Those aged above 49 years are discouraged from taking the Static Line first jump. Tandem Sky Diving is often a better choice for those above 49 years old. Maximum weight 12 stone for women and 15 stone for men. Body mass index will also be taken into account.
Spectators/facilities: This Drop Zone has a canteen that serves hot and cold meals, snacks and drinks. Separate ladies and gents toilets and shower facilities are on site. There is a free wireless internet access point and a drop zone shop selling souvenir items. Tandem Sky Spectators are welcome to come and watch but please do not bring animals or alcohol to the drop zone. This drop zone has good disabled access to the viewing area and canteen.
